Experience
does counts. During her over three decades as
a psychotherapist Marla Gale has specialized in family,
couple, individual and group therapy, supervision
and training, management training and consulting.
As a Field Instructor and Supervisor of professional
staff Mrs. Gale’s job was to train student to
become clinicians and to train and provide continuing
education to her colleagues. Working in a Family service
Agency exposed her to an enormous variety of problems
and issues as she also supervised the “Information
and Referral” department.
Marla Gale is the author of the book, "Dirty
Dishes and Other War Stories” Something as simple
as “Dirty Dishes” can cause an argument
and set the tone for a whole evening. The books title,
“Dirty Dishes” is a metaphor for any trigger
that causes a strong emotional response. The longer
a person is upset by the same behavior the more intense
the emotional response becomes.
A strong
believer in preventing relationship breakdowns by
training people to acquire the ability to maintain
or develop healthy and significant relationships,
Mrs. Gale attended various training programs and then
developed her training program. She received a grant
from Target Stores and presented “A Toolbox
of Relationship Skills”. Her training
programs have become this book and provide the tools
to accomplish this sometimes daunting task. Very often
people don’t like the way they handle a situation
they just don’t know what to do instead. “Dirty
Dishes” teaches people what to do instead. “Dirty
Dishes” teaches people to think about how they
think and to learn the skills that will enable them
to negotiate, reach compromises, and resolve differences
or even agree to disagree.
Mrs.
Gale practices what she teaches. Her own family have
provided Marla with a wealth of opportunity to practice
the skills she teaches and it works! She has
been happily married (with the expected ups and downs)
to Edward for more that 50 years. They have three
happily married children (original spouses) and six
grandchildren (all doing great). She is active
in a number of community projects.
Marla
Gale is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW, by
the state of Florida, and a certified Diplomate, DCSW,

Court of Florida has certified her as a Family Mediator.
Mrs. Gale was also a Clinical Associate Professor at
Barry University. She received her Masters in Social
Work from Barry University with Honors and her Bachelor's
degree from the University of Miami (Magna Cum Laude).
Mrs. Gale supervised professional staff for Jewish Family
Service of Broward County, and was a Clinical Associate
Professor, Barry University. A
sought after speaker, and former member of the National
Speakers Association, she has presented numerous workshops
and training sessions, and has been a guest speaker
on a variety of timely subjects. She is listed in Who’s
Who in America. Mrs. Gale maintains an active
